Peterborough residents are being urged to help cut crime by getting their bicycles marked by police.
Police community support officers and community safety officers will be holding the free bike-marking session in Cathedral Square, Peterborough from noon until 2pm on Thursday, July 17.
Community safety officer Ruth Watson has offered the following advice for cyclists:
- Use a good quality lock, such as a D or combination lock, and use two for extra security.
- Lock both wheels – through the wheel and frame – and keep the lock off the ground.
- Remove any extras such as lights or helmets.
- Get your bike frame security marked with your name and postcode.
- Register the bike at www.immobilise.com
