Two Westwood players - Danny Wilder and Scott Martin - saw red in a niggly game which ultimately gave Bauer boss Sean Hammill little clue as to how his side will fare at the top level.
Westwood battled back to make it 1-1 with 10 men and then gra
bbed a second equaliser with nine men four minutes from the end. Tom Wales scored two well-taken goals for Bauer.
Had Lord Westwood stayed at full strength the result could well have been different.
But a lack of discipline meant that instead of looking for all three points, the Premier Division heavyweights were in the end lucky to nick just the one.
Hammill said: "At 1-1 I would have to say they had created the better chances but they lost a couple of players and that obviously changed the game and perhaps the result."
"But I would have to say they really came at us and even when we took the lead they never let their heads drop and managed to nick a goal just before the end.
"It is hard to judge how we stand after that. However, considering it was our debut I think we did well and if someone had said before the match it would be a draw I'd have taken it.
"Our new players, Fernand Bass, Kev Ellis and Daryl Todd all seem to be bedding in nicely and I am hopeful we will be able to compete at this level."
Meanwhile Netherton made it two wins from two with a 5-1 win against New Shoes, while new boys Coates matched the feat in the division below with a 4-1 win against Protelo.
Goals for Dean Shepperson, Dave Moore, Craig Crofts and Tom Lilley meant Shepperson could even afford to miss a penalty just before half-time as Lee Colbert's side continue to build on their dark horse reputation.
Colbert said: "We are a new team and only formed this summer from the Saturday Whittlesey and Coates sides. We have signed on a lot of players and I think a lot of people are seeing us as dark horses as they don't know a lot about us.
"But I know a lot about these players and I reckon we could even have a shot at promotion this season if we all keep working hard every game."
In Division Two, Thomas Cook maintained their 100 per cent record against Netherton Reserves while Fenland Police nicked a last-gasp draw against Sporting SKS in the Third Division with four goals in the last twenty minutes.
