A FURTHER 14 workers at Castle Cement, in Ketton, near Stamford, have been told their jobs are "at risk", it has been revealed today.
Last week, the factory announced it had informed 35 people they faced the prospect of redundancy, after launching a 30-day consultation period.

The firm blamed the credit crunch for creating a declining demand for cement.

But it has since been revealed that 49 members of staff in Ketton are actually in danger of losing their jobs, taking on board another 14 distribution workers who were not previously mentioned in the announcement.

There are 360 people employed at the site, which dates back to the 1920s.

Castle Cement has pledged to hold talks with the Transport and General Workers Union.

Do they have concrete proof that the credit crunch is to blame or is it just a smoke screed?
