AFTER finishing runner-up last year, Martin Adams, the England darts captain from Deeping, won the Sports Personality of the Year prize.
He was unfortunately unable to attend Friday night's presentation dinner at the Holiday Inn as he was playing in the Dutch Open so his son Warren stepped up to receive the award from sponsor Iain Forsythe.

Adams of course won the BDO Lakeside World Championship in January 2007.

The runners-up were gymnast Louis Smith and Phantoms ice hockey player Brent Gough.
