PETERBOROUGH'S three Channing brothers boxed for top London club Repton ABC in an inter-club match with Sunderland at the Ramside Inn in Durham.Hard-hitting Ben Channing (12) took his record to four wins from five starts when he boxed Michael Seaman.

Ben produced some clever controlled boxing and put together some spiteful punching throughout all three rounds to come out a clear unanimous winner on the cards of all five judges.

His elder brother Callum Channing (14) suffered disappointment when his contest with T. Atkinson was stopped after an accidental clash of heads in the second round left him with a heavy nose bleed.

It was later discovered that Callum had actually suffered a broken nose and he now has a six week lay-off.

The eldest Channing, 20 year-old Michael, boxed an old foe in 19 year-old Lewis Sheriff and this was an excellent bout with the aggressive Sherriff looking to avenge his previous two defeats by the Peterborough fighter.

Unfortunately for Sherriff this was not be on his own show.

In the first round Michael boxed cleverly on his back foot and landed some eye-catching shots to the head and body.

Lewis found him an elusive target and all the scoring punches throughout rounds two and three were thrown by Michael as he emerged a majority points winner.

He was also awarded the best boxer of the night and given his trophy by Sunderland Olympic boxing bronze medallist Tony Jeffries.

Michael is boxing this weekend for Repton in a multi-nations tournament in Cyprus.
