Lauren Steadman continued her build-up to the Rio Paralympics by successfully defending her London World Series Para-triathlon title on Saturday (May 30).
The 22 year-old from Sawtry completed the 750m swim in the Serpentine, the 20km cycling and the 5km run at the London 2012 Olympic venue in Hyde Park in one hour nine minutes 26 seconds.
That was almost five minutes ahead of Clare Cunningham giving Great Britain a one-two in the women’s PT4 category.
“I was a bit disappointed with the swim, but the bike and run went well,” Steadman said.
“I like the course and it was lovely to win in front of a home crowd. I had a lot of family there and I could see them on the side, so it was quite nice.”
