Three in, three out in Posh transfers
A HECTIC few days of transfer activity are in store at London Road.
A HECTIC few days of transfer activity are in store at London Road.Director of football Barry Fry admitted that three new signings and three departures are on the cards before the transfer deadline on Monday.
Posh are preparing to splash chairman Darragh MacAnthony's cash in a bid to boost their squad before September 1. The club also expect to see Josh Low and Shwan Jalal leave permanently with striker Liam Hatch going out on loan.
Fry declined to reveal the identities or even position of the Posh targets, but said: "There is a lot going on at the moment but nothing is rubber-stamped just yet."
Update: Wednesday, 1.25pm: Posh sign Dagenham winger Green.
-------------------------
"There will definitely be two players coming in and possibly a third as well. The manager has identified the players he wants and I have been doing the deals.
"We will be paying money for all three and it makes sense to shift some lads out because having over 30 players is too many."
Cheltenham have stepped up their interest in Low after watching him play for Posh Reserves yesterday, while Darlington are leading the chase to land Hatch on loan after their boss Dave Penney saw him score a cracking goal for the second string.
Fry added: "We have had seven or eight clubs approach us about either buying or loaning Liam. The gaffer does not want to sell him but wants him playing, hence the need to go to a club where it is going to happen.
"Darlington are the only club he has spoken to and if he agrees to go there it should all be done and dusted in time for him to play for them on Saturday.
"We are prepared to let Josh go for nothing and I should know more later today. I feel he is too good to hang about in our reserves but the ball is in his court.
Schwan Jalal
And Jalal's loan move to Bournemouth is set to be made permanent with a fee involved.
"Bournemouth are going to give Shwan a three-year contract down there. The deal is in place and just needs rubber-stamping, but I expect it to go through."
Danny Crow has now rejected advances from a Danish club as well as knocking back Rotherham and Cambridge. Adam Smith has spoken to King's Lynn about a return to the club he left to join Posh in November, 2006.
