CHARLOTTE Taylor (right) broke her Nene Valley Harriers Under 17 club record when blasting to victory in the Southern Women's League at Luton. She was one of only two A-string winners for Nene Valley as they finished third, eight points ahead of city rivals Peterborough Athletic Club.

Andrea Jenkins was the other A-string victor, taking the hammer and also weighing in with three second places including a personal best of 29.91m in the javelin.

Kelly Lawrence gave good support with a B-string double in the shot and discus while Georgie Ivens was successful when running her first 400m of the season. She took the B-string event and also the 200m A-string.

PAC were heavily depleted with Emily Moss competing in the English Under 20 Championships, Leah Parsons and Rachel Stone injured and Devon Spencer and Emma Houghton having both undergone surgery during the week for appendicitis. Sharna Emanuel, Sarah Caskey and Steph Hendy were also unavailable and further points were lost when dropping the baton in the 4x100m when contesting the lead, but the performances of some of the young members were encouraging.

Teenager Katy Lee won the B-string triple jump with a personal best of 9.93m while Michelle Longman led most of the way in the 400m hurdles just three days after her 17th birthday.

Better known as a 400m/800m runner, Longman had only gone over the barriers for the first time two days earlier in training but she was going well until clipping the penultimate hurdle.

The collision caused her to lose all momentum but she recovered to finish third and PAC hurdles coach Duncan Harbour has predicted she will break 70 seconds before the end of the campaign.
