Swindon 2, Phantoms 7 - Miller goes nap to send Patterson's high-flyers to Coventry

IN a season of firsts, Joe Miller delivered another against Swindon on Saturday night.

IN a season of firsts, Joe Miller delivered another against Swindon on Saturday night.'Jumping Joe' became the only Phantoms player to hit five goals in a game this season as Phantoms effectively booked their place in the play-off semi-finals with a game to spare.

Goals from Craig Peacock and skipper Lewis Buckman completed the job as the Bretton boys moved a step closer to an unprecedented trophy sweep.

Having already won the EPL league and cup double, their 21st away win of the campaign, put Colin Patterson's side within two games of a third trophy.

And having already beaten every team in the league at least twice, there is no reason why Phantoms cannot enjoy further success in what has already been their best ever season.

Patterson said: "We put in a great performance and after quite a tight first period we really got it going in the second.

"Joe Miller obviously had a great game but all the guys played well and we thoroughly deserved this result.

"Our road form has been a cornerstone of our success this season and it is great to see they can still deliver after the hectic schedule they have had over the past few weeks."

Peterborough Phantoms: 2009 treble winners

James Westgate relives the Phantoms' all-conquering 2009 season.

---------------

After taking the lead through Peacock after just 26 seconds, Phantoms found themselves pegged back to 1-1 after Josef Kohut lit the lamp for Swindon.

And with the visitors struggling to find their usual fluency, a tied game was the best the visitors could have hoped for going into the middle act.

But then Miller sprang to life, smashing a second period hat-trick either side of a Buckman goal to give Phantoms a 5-2 advantage going into the last.

Aaron Nell did pull one back before Miller added his fifth and his side's seventh for an unassailable lead ahead of the second leg at the Peterborough Arena.
