THERE were medals galore for City of Peterborough Swimming Club (COPS) members at the Cambridgeshire Intermediate Championships. They had 33 swimmers in action at the Regional Pool in Peterborough and between them they brought home 91 medals.

The Intermediate Championships were introduced to give those swimmers who have not achieved the full county standard the opportunity to compete against similar standard swimmers from clubs around the county. The aim is to progress to the full county championships in March.

The swimmers set a total of 83 new personal best (PB) times and bagged 34 gold, 35 silver and 22 bronze medals.

Top performer for the club was Heather Pfeiffer with seven golds, two bronze medals and new PBs in all but one of her events.

Second to Heather in the medal hunt was Lauren Pears (14), who claimed four golds and one silver medal, setting four new PBs along the way.

Kerry Hunt (14) was also a multi-medallist with three golds and a silver while Lottie Holmes (14) and Katie Green (11) picked up two gold medals each.

Heading the boys honours list was Grant Newman (16) with three gold and one bronze medal - all achieved in new personal best times.

Leigh Clarke (10) and Daniel Leigh (9) both grabbed two gold and one bronze medal each.
