Swimming: Lorna produces a superb performance in the COPS mini-meet

CITY of Peterborough Swimming Club (COPS) wrapped up their Mini-Meet Grand Prix series in style.

CITY of Peterborough Swimming Club (COPS) wrapped up their Mini-Meet Grand Prix series in style.Thirty seven swimmers from COPS took part in the last of four rounds and set 47 new personal best times.

There are four mini-meets in the series and they are restricted to swimmers that are 12 years old or under. Swimmers are awarded points according to their placing in each race.

At the end of the Grand Prix series there are awards for the top six swimmers in each age group, top visiting club and top overall swimmer.

The top swimmer trophy was won by COPS' Lorna Attwood (12), who topped the rankings with a massive 6,278 points.

Runner-up Shannon Ruff (12) amassed 5,667 points and the Lynne Tetley Trophy for the top visiting team went to City of Milton Keynes.

COPS swimmers headed five of the eight age group categories.

As well as taking the top overall swimmer award Attwood headed the 12 year-old girls rankings while Jenny Hookham topped the nine year-old girls category.

Olivia Standish-Leigh squeezed home in the last race of the night to take top spot in the 10 year-old girls event by just eight points from Huntingdon's Zoe Griffiths, who had led since the start of the series.

In the boys rankings, Mitchell Pears (11) took top spot with fellow COPS swimmers Daniel Powell and Tom Mitchell taking second and third place respectively.

Ottavio Tanzillo took the 12 year-old boys category with Ben Rippon taking second place.
