You fail to understand that most footballers cannot turn the heating up, or pay their mortgage, let alone negotiate with a club.

Would this be the same ‘quality footballer’ (Owen) who managed 17 goals (of which a whopping five came in the league) in three seasons at one of the best clubs in the country?
Face it, Owen was a brilliant player when he still had pace but that has long gone.
Watching him desperately try to hawk himself around was embarrassing.
