Swales insists Pedersen can inspire a Panthers victory

TEAM boss Trevor Swales believes Panthers possess the necessary ingredients to challenge for a crucial victory in their relegation showdown at Coventry tonight (7.30pm).

TEAM boss Trevor Swales believes Panthers possess the necessary ingredients to challenge for a crucial victory in their relegation showdown at Coventry tonight (7.30pm).The Peterborough chief insists the televised clash at Brandon has to go down as a 'winnable meeting' as his side bid to haul themselves out of the drop-zone.

They were plunged into the mire when Coventry scraped past rock-bottom Wolverhampton on Friday but victory tonight would see them leapfrog the Bees again.

Swales has drafted in top Poole rider Bjarne Pedersen to fill the void left by the absence of star rider Hans Andersen – and he should form a handy spearhead with Kenneth Bjerre.

Swales said: "Bjarne was my first choice guest and I'm thrilled he has agreed to do the meeting

"He is normally very good around Coventry and Kenneth was excellent there in the World Cup recently as well.

"In fact all our boys should be decent at Coventry and it is very important we put on a good show for the fans in what has to be classed as a winnable away meeting.

"Coventry only just came through on Friday against Wolverhampton but this is a different thing against different opposition.

"However, I feel we are in with a big chance."

Panthers' only triumph on the road so far this season was a shock success at Poole in early June.

Panthers have appointed Christina Clarke as their new commercial manager. Clarke was involved in the club's schools roadshow earlier in the season.
