Two Peterborough Triathlon Club (PACTRAC) junior members got their season off to a flying start at the weekend when competing in a duathlon race at the Velodrome in Stratford.
In bitterly cold conditions, Olivia Corner started with a win while Katie Tasker also claimed a podium finish.
Corner was a comfortable winner of the TS2 race after opening up a massive lead on the bike.
In the same event, PACTRAC’s Chloe Moore finished strongly on a tough course to take 15th place.
In the TS3 race Tasker had a real ding-dong battle with the South East champion with the lead constantly changing hands.
At the end of the day it was a little local knowledge that helped the Londoner claim a 10-second advantage and she held on for first spot with Tasker finishing in a gallant second place.
In the TriStart event for eight year-olds, Josh Moore made his competitive debut and acquitted himself well with a solid performance in the bitterly cold conditions for fifth place.
