YOU normally need to settle down on the sofa or pop into the local pub to catch 'Super Sunday' – but this weekend you only need to head down to the Grange. The Mayor's Walk venue is where Premier Division titans Racing 252 and Netherton will do battle for the top flight title in the Peterborough Sunday Morning League.
Racing enter the Sunday showdown a point clear of their rivals at the top of the standings. A draw will be good enough to hand Scott Stainsby's men the silverware – Netherton need the win.
And Netherton boss Roland Dean reckons his side are one of the few around at this level who have any chance of making that happen.
He said: "We know all about their quality and it is going to be hard to stop them scoring with the firepower that they have but we go into the game full of confidence.
"Both times we have played them this season it has been tight and maybe now it is our turn to win one, but we will have to be at our very best.
"If we can stay in touch and don't let them blow us away early on, we will have a chance. There is a massive incentive for us as it would be our first top-flight title and we are determined to give it our best shot."
Racing, who lifted the Hereward Cup last weekend when beating Fratelli 5-2 in the final, moved into top spot without actually kicking a ball.
They were awarded three points by league bosses after opponents Limetree failed to field a side for a fixture almost a fortnight ago.
League chairman Fred Johnson said: "We followed our rules exactly. They clearly say that any team that cancels a fixture less than seven days before it is due to be played – as Limetree did in this case – are fined and deducted points, while the opponents are given the three points.
"It means the league title can be decided on the pitch, on the last day of the season, and it should be a cracker."
Racing pipped Netherton 3-2 when the sides met in the Premier Division last month. They were handed victory by a late own goal from Eddie Patten.
Racing had led 2-0 courtesy of goals from Scott Quinney and Mark Baines, but a brace from Jon Harrison (including a 30-yard stunner) hauled Netherton level.
