St Ledger could end up netting Posh a cool million

POSH stand to make more money from the transfer of defender Sean St Ledger to Middlesbrough.

POSH stand to make more money from the transfer of defender Sean St Ledger to Middlesbrough.Director of football Barry Fry confirmed the club have a 20 per cent sell-on clause should St Ledger's loan switch from Preston turn into a permanent deal in the January transfer window.

Media reports suggest the fee could be as much as 4.5 million and Fry believes a permanent deal has been agreed in principle.

He also revealed Posh have already made more than 500,000 on the 24 year-old Irish international who was sold in the summer of 2006.

Fry said: "It is a fantastic deal which means in the end we could receive well over 1 million for the player. The chairman is happy, so I'm happy!

"We have already received a transfer fee, more money linked to appearances and another sum for Preston making the play-offs last season.

"I understand the permanent transfer has been agreed, but they are in a similar position as to we were with Gaby Zakuani last season where the loan spell will end before the deal can go through."
