Sundstrom signs on again

Linus Sundstrom will be back in Panthers colours next year.

Linus Sundstrom will be back in Panthers colours next year.

Peterborough Panthers have made rising Swedish star Linus Sundstrom their first signing for 2013.

Sundstrom penned a contract to return to the city club next year while attendind their end-of-season bash at the Parkway Club on Friday (November 2).

The 22 year-old has made fine progress during the past two seasons since being bought from Premier League club Rye House late in 2010.

He has already enjoyed two stints as Panthers captain and finished the 2012 campaign at the top of the club’s averages with a figure of 7.87.

Team boss Jan Staechmann said: “Myself and the rest of the management have been highly delighted with the performances Linus produced this year and we’re very pleased to make the announcement that he has signed for next year.”

The Sundstrom signing has been completed even though Panthers owners Rick Frost and Julie Mahoney are yet to give concrete assurances the club will race next year.

Sundstrom also scooped four awards at the ‘Panthers Party’. He won the Riders’ Rider of the Year, the Team Rider of the Year, the Supporters’ Club Rider of the Year and the Barry McIntosh Award.

Norbert Kosciuch was named as Management’s Rider of the Year while fellow Polish charger Krzysztof Buczkowski took the Most Improved Rider accolade.
