Peterborough Panthers owner Rick Frost has insisted the club is not up for sale.
He was responding to mis-leading internet headlines which appeared earlier this week.
Frost claims comments he initially made in a broadcast interview have been mis-represented in some areas of the media.
He said: “I have never tried to hide the fact that on current attendance levels the sport would struggle to survive at Elite League level here without substantial continued investment.
“Naturally that means we have to regularly evaluate our position, which was the message from my recent radio interview.
“However, it is not true to state that the club is now up for sale and it is disappointing to see my comments mis-represented in this fashion, both from a national broadcaster and also from unofficial speedway media which quickly causes unfounded rumours to spread.”
Whilst the club is not up for sale, Frost has admitted that no decision has been made as to whether Panthers will race in 2013.
