Team boss Carl Johnson has ordered his Panthers riders not to expect another cakewalk at Plymouth tomorrow night (7.15pm).
The city racers stormed to a 57-36 win at the St Boniface Arena in a League Cup clash three weeks ago, but Johnson has stressed there is no room for complacency ahead of their latest trip to the tiny Devon track in the Premier League.
Panthers are determined to continue a winning start to the league campaign after pocketing all seven available points from their opening two fixtures against Redcar and Rye House.
Johnson said: “It is highly unlikely there will be a repeat of the previous meeting at Plymouth.
“We cannot afford to take them lightly in any way as they will be absolutely desperately for revenge.
“No team likes to lose on their home track – especially not by that sort of socreline.
“Plymouth also had their captain Kyle Newman missing that night and he makes a huge difference to them.
“We expect them to hit us hard early on, but we still expect to pick up a result down there to continue the good start to the league fixtures.
“We have showed we are capable of picking up results on all types of tracks and the lads are all on a high.”
Panthers have hired a guest with extensive knowledge of the St Boniface Arena track to lead their challenge. Former Plymouth man Ben Barker, currently of Berwick, steps into the number one spot.
Otherwise Panthers are at full-strength with teen ace Robert Lambert returning to the fold after missing all three meetings last week due to commitments with his Elite League club, King’s Lynn.
New averages come into effect tomorrow. Skipper Ulrich Ostergaard, Lewis Blackbird, Simon Lambert and Ollie Greenwood have all increased their marks.
Robert Lambert and Michael Palm Toft remain on their current figures due to not completing enough meetings to earn a new average.
