Peterborough Panthers asset Claus Vissing was an East of England Showground hero yesterday (July 14) when leading Edinburgh to Premier League Fours glory.
The Danish racer won a final heat decider as the Monarchs (21pts) saw off Ipswich (18), Somerset (17) and Berwick (16) in the annual event.
Edinburgh recovered from being four points off the lead at the halfway stage of the 12-race final to snatch victory with Vissing bagging eight points from his three rides.
The final was completed following a lengthy delay after a nasty crash involving Berwick rider David Bellego and Ipswich man Rohan Tungate in the penultimate heat. Both riders were taken to hospital but are understood to have escaped serious injury.
Edinburgh (13) had earlier finished second in Group B behind Somerset (14) with Newcastle (11) and Leicester (10) bowing out. Workington (11) and Scunthorpe (10) failed to make the cut from Group A as Berwick (15) and Ipswich (12) advanced.
