JOE Miller was the hero as Phantoms wrapped up a massive 6-3 win in Sheffield last night. The Welsh wizard's four goals against Scimitars at IceSheffield capped another marvellous away performance which shot Colin Patterson's side five points clear at the top of the English Premier League.
But despite the importance of a 16th win on the road this season for Phantoms, it was results elsewhere which carried the greater significance.
Milton Keynes losing at home to Slough Jets and Guildford Flames going down at Romford put the city side on the cusp of their first league crown in six years.
Miller said: "We have definitely put ourselves in the driving seat now and we would hope to be able to wrap this up in the next few weeks.
"And against Sheffield we showed again that we can go anywhere and get the points which is why we are at the top by five points.
"Lightning and Flames both losing was a massive bonus but we know it is down to us to keep winning no matter what the other results are.
"Everyone is buzzing at the moment and playing well at just the right time."

"The goals are starting to go in for me but it's easy alongside Brent (Gough) and Craig (Peacock) now we have to keep it going until the job is done."
After going behind to an early goal from Joakim Milqvist, Phantoms responded well and by the end of the first period were leading 2-1 thanks to Miller's first and second goals of the night.
Shortly after the restart Scimitars regained the initiative through Zdenek Sikl only to see Miller snatch it back when reaching his treble, before goals from Maris Ziedins and Gough made sure Phantoms went into the final act with a comfortable 5-2 lead.
And it was an advantage they added to six minutes from time when Miller completed his awesome foursome before Oliver Barron made the score a little more respectable with Scims' third goal.
