Peterborough Regional College returned to British Colleges League action yesterday (January 6) after the Christmas break and ground out a 12-3 win against Easton College from Norwich.
The city side spent most of the first period in the opposition half but Easton defended well and the first period ended scoreless.
The game opened up in the second half with both sides moving the ball down the flanks and Easton started to apply some pressure in the Regional College half on the back of some useful lineout ball.
And it was Easton who opened the scoring with a penalty in front of the posts for offisde at the breakdown.
Regional College then set about moving the ball away from the contact area and rewarded with a try by scrum-half Tom Winch.
In the last quarter Peterborough moved up a gear and controlled possession well resulting in a second try scored by centre Reece Callaby.
Coach Lewis Capes said: “Easton held us well and both teams were well matched. It was a positive start to 2016 but we have some really tough games towards the end of the month.”
