Five Peterborough Lions players have been picked for East Midlands.

Wade Schoeman, Adam Barnard, Vernon Horne, Will Carrington and Matt Dunn will all be in the side to play Northumberland in their opening County Championship game on Saturday (May 9).

That will be against Northumberland at Bedford Athletic in Division Two North of the Bill Beaumont Cup.

Schoeman, Horne and Carrington all played for East Midlands when they beat a strong Army A side in their warm-up match at Bedford last month.

East Midlands will be boosted by the availability of England Counties international Lewis Barker, their captain and Old Northamptonians scrum-half, who missed the Army match through injury. But they will be without Brett Daynes, the Coventry flanker, because of injury.

East Midlands play their second match in a three-team group against Eastern Counties at Cambridge University on May 16.
