Dean Elmore scored a hat-trick of tries as Peterborough Regional College won their British Colleges League fixture in Norwich yesterday (December 3)
They beat Easton College 31-17 after flanker Elmore gave them the perfect start with a try from a lineout after five minutes.
Easton hit back though with a try from a five-yard scrum on 25 minutes.
The game then became evenly contested but Peterborough were still able to cross for two more tries just before half-time - the first from winger Sean Leedell after good work by number eight Sam Cowell and scrum-half Jack Webb - and the second by Elmore.
After the interval Easton’s pack raised their game and Peterborough were back-pedalling for long spells. The Norwich boys narrowed the gap with two tries before Elmore made the game safe with his third touchdown.
Peterborough coach Lewis Capes was pleased to win but less pleased with the performance. he said: “We are not making the correct decisions at the moment and not playing as a unit. We need to correct these issues on the training field if we have any chance of retaining our title this year.”
