Peterborough Lions player-coach Darren Fox has today (March 6) won an international call-up to the England Counties squad.

Fox, a former Northampton Saints player, will play against France in Paris on Friday, March 20.

The England Counties team is a representative team that is open to players who play in the County Championship and the third tier (and below) of the English rugby union system. Players from the Premiership and RFU Championship are ineligible.

Lions play in National League Division Three so it’s quite an honour for Fox.

“It’s an honour fo Darren and a coup for the club,” Lions chairman Andy Moore enthused.

Fox will play for Lions in a league game at Bournville tomorrow (March 7). The two yellow cards and a red card he received in last Saturday’s (February 28) defeat at the hands of leaders South Leicester have not led to a suspension.
