Rose has moved to London Road on loan until January 10.
Rose said: "I was on my way to Doncaster at 1pm when I received a call from Darren. He's a family friend and someone who already has a great reputation in the game so I'm keen to work with him.
"I was surprised to start last night, but I hope to keep my place. We would have won if we had taken our chances."
The 19 year-old is highly rated within the game. He was brought up through the Leeds United Academy before moving to Spurs for whom he has appeared once, as a substitute in the Carling Cup at Doncaster earlier this season.
Rose started three Championship games during a loan spell at Watford last season. He recently signed a new contract tying himself to Spurs until 2013.
