Local team Brawls of Steel missed out on a play-off place in Tier 2 of the UK Roller Derby Championships.

They were beaten 329-111 by Suffolk Men from Ipswich at Bushfield (July 9).

The newly formed team played with a short roster of nine skaters against a strong side. It was a fiercely fought game with strength and skill demonstrated by both teams, but a hard to beat Suffolk took the win.

Bristol beat Nottingham Outlaws in the other play-off match held in the city.

Roller derby is the fastest growing sport in the UK, Borderland Brawlers Roller Derby are a Co-Ed team with skaters from the Peterborough, Stamford, Grantham and Oakham areas. The team are having an intake on Tuesday September 6 and

are seeking fresh combatants for a sport that involves jamming and blocking opponents while travelling at speed around a circuit.
