Rackham is the Kat's whiskers as Azure earn a point

STAND-IN keeper Kat Rackham delivered an heroic display as Peterborough Azure drew their big East Midlands Premier Division relegation battle against Gedling.

STAND-IN keeper Kat Rackham delivered an heroic display as Peterborough Azure drew their big East Midlands Premier Division relegation battle against Gedling.Rackham made a host of fine stops – despite having never appeared between the sticks before – as it ended 1-1 at Sawtry.

Gedling eventually hit the front against the run of play in the second period before Jade Ovendale delivered a spectacular leveller with a 30-yard blast.

Azure now need five points from their remaining seven games – starting when they entertain Friar Lane & Epworth on Sunday – to successfully dodge the drop.

WHITTLESEY Under 12s were spot-on as they booked their place in the Fenland League Cup final.

The local lasses triumphed 3-1 on penalties after their semi-final clash against Chatteris had failed to produce a goal – and it proved to be third time lucky for a team that had fallen at this stage in the past two seasons.

Stacie Boon, Annie Posnett and Alyx Miller all converted successfully while Whittlesey keeper Emma Johnson saved two of Chatteris' first three attempts.

Whittlesey: Emma Johnson, Charley Ireland, Sophie Powell, Stacie Boon, Sofia Green, TJ Reade , Alyx Miller, Georgia Alegre, Leah Anthony, Annie Posnett, Jaz Sheppard.

DEEPING Diamonds Black booked their place by sweeping aside Hungate, 5-1.

Elizabeth Steele had earlier broken the deadlock and Alice MacNicol was the other Diamonds player to find the net when her corner was deflected in by a St Ives defender.
