AJAZ AKHTAR 8/10
Champion bowling/sledging all-rounder who has also scored a lot of
runs for a man with one shot. Astute skipper, but 40-year -old limbs are
not suited toTwenty/20 cricket.
Plays like: Imran Khan
ALAN BURTON 9/10
Gingerwhingerwho is usually first to bat, but always last to the bar. Got all the shots and an excellent driver, as long as some-one else has paid for the petrol.
Plays like: Sachin Tendulkar
DAVID CLARKE 9/10
Bats like Ricky Ponting, fields like Jonty Rhodes and runs between the
wickets like Inzamam-ul-Haq. The former Ramsey youngster is one to
fear if he gets into his stride.
Plays like: Charlotte Edwards
IMRAN ABBAS 8/10
Started the summer slowly, but has looked very classy in the last cou-
ple of weeks. Hits lots of boundaries, partly because he's not fond of
running between the wickets.
Plays like: Inzamam-ul-Haq
LEWIS BRUCE 9/10
Bruce Almighty is a terrific talent with bat and ball. He was a child
prodigy who could become a Town great once he grows up.
Plays like: Michael Clarke.
CHRIS JONES 7/10
Jaidka Jonah Jones has never picked up a winner's medal despite a
high-quality career at Market Deeping. The superstitious among the
Town team might be hoping he doesn't recover from a hand injury in
time to play.
Plays like: Rahul Dravid
MARTIN HAIR 7/10
The ultimate teammanwho has been used in more positions than Paris
Hilton. Has put off a trip to Glastonbury to play tonight, and not just
because he's heard the teas at Barnack are exceptional.
Plays like: Mike Gatting.
BASHARAT HUSSAIN 7/10
The seamer with the film star looks will be under-estimated at Nassington's peril. Bash can bash it with the bat and is a wonderfully accurate bowler.
Plays like: Kapil Dev.
CHRIS MILNER 7/10
One of two hugely talented county under 17 wicket-keepers on view
tonight. Milner has faster hands than Floyd Mayweather which has
proved a problem for some of the ageing umpires on the local circuit.
Plays like: James Foster.
JAMIE SMITH 8/10
There was once a thought that pace ace Jamie was in the side because
he enhanced the team photo. Lovely lad off the field, but competitive,
aggressive and dangerous on it.
Plays like: Merv Hughes.
STUART WILLIAMS 6/10
Toured some of the world's hot spots as a soldier including Iraq and
Afghanistan, but still lists playing at Yaxley CC as one of his most dangerous assignments.
Plays like: Dwayne Bravo
Team total: 85/110

HAROON MOHAMMED 9/10
The cricketing chef is the best local leg-spinner to ever appear in these parts. Fearless Pied Piper of a captain who backs his young players.
Plays like: Mushtaq Ahmed.
IMRAN KHAN 9/10
The man with the famous name has been the star batsman in this season's competition. Starts quicker than Sebastian Vettel and is a better
driver than Lewis Hamilton.
Plays like: Yuvraj Singh.
ADAM CRAIG 7/10
Veteran left-hander who used to play doggedly for Town. He has lots of
class, but has been hiding it down the Nassington order in recent seasons.
Plays like: Allan Border.
TANVIR AFZAL 8/10
The club's overseas star is harder to hit than Klitschko thanks to expert control of a fast yorker. Bagged the best hat-trick since Geoff Hurst when dismissing Wisbech stars Allsop, Freear and Williams in successive deliveries recently.
Plays like: Umar Gul.
TARIQ AZIZ 8/10
Former Town player Tariq has played cricket for Portugal which is about
as impressive as playing football for Pakistan, but he is a dangerous
hard-hitting batsman and big-spinning off-break bowler.
Plays like: Shahid Afridi.
JON POTTER 7/10
Club legend who flogs sweets for a living so expect him to hand Akhtar
a gobstopper if their paths cross in the middle. Paid 200 for a new bat
recently which is optimistically extravagant for a man of his age.
Plays like: Michael Vaughan.
ALEX BANDARANAIKE 7/10
Another to emerge from a cricketing dynasty. Already much better than
his dad and with an infinitely more sensible hair -style.
Plays like: Dimi Mascarenhas.
PHIL SLINN 6/10
Safe hands Slinn will patrol the boundary when the Nassington spinners are bowling. Will probably be patrolling the boundary when Nassington are batting as well.
Plays like: Paul Collingwood.
ALEX MARTIN 7/10
Teenagerwho opened the bowling superbly in the semi-final which was
a bit of a bonus as he is normally a wicket-keeper. Alan Hansen would
hate Nassington as a team that wins with loads of kids in their line-up.
Plays like: Stuart Broad.
CHRIS BUDD 8/10
A star of the future for sure and already has an old head on young
shoulders. Edges rival Milner as a batsman thanks to a destructive cut
shot and violent pull shot.
Plays like: Adam Gilchrist.
ANDY DAIR 6/10
Complained recently about being downgraded from a pacy postie to a
pedestrian postie so what he made of his semi-final description as the
pie-throwing postie is anyone's guess.
Plays like: Mark Ealham.
Team total: 82/110.
Swanny's verdict:
Peterborough Town 85, Nassington 82 - This could be one of the most exciting finals of recent years. Both sides are full of explosive talent.
Peterborough Town may have the better individual players and in a longer game they would be hot favourites to win, but they must be concerned about their poor form in Twenty/20 cricket recently.
In contrast Nassington have looked impressive in the earlier rounds and they will fancy their chances on the small boundaries at Barnack. I fancy them to win narrowly as well.
