11pm: As news reports spread across the web this evening, Peterborough United remained tight-lipped over reports suggesting they had parted company with manager Darren Ferguson. The story broke this afternoon (Monday) as thesun.co.uk newspaper website ran the first story claiming Ferguson had been sacked.

But by early evening, director of football Barry Fry and chief exective officer Bob Symms both refused to comment when leaving Posh's London Road ground.

The city club slumped to the bottom of the Championship table following a 3-1 defeat at Newcastle on Saturday.

Ferguson has guided Posh to back-to-back promotions since his appointment in January 2007.
