Friday, 10am: LONG-TIME defensive target Ryan Bennett is finally expected to seal a move to Posh today (Friday). The teenage Grimsby Town captain held transfer talks at London Road throughout yesterday. He is set to move on loan with a view to a permanent transfer in the January transfer window.

Posh director of football Barry Fry said: "Ryan gave us a good vibe and is very mature for 19, which is no surprise given he has been Grimsby's captain for the past season. Ryan saw the manager twice and has been shown around the club and the area. He passed a medical with no problems and he is coming back today hopefully to put pen to paper."

Posh were frustrated in their attempts to sign Bennett during the summer when then-Grimsby boss Mike Newell was against the deal. He was sacked as Mariners boss recently which has allowed Posh back in for their man.

Posh also held talks with their other defensive target yesterday, but Fry confirmed they were unable to agree personal terms with the player.
