Posh ace to present Junior Alliance with award

POSH star Craig Mackail-Smith will be the star of the show at the PFA and Peterborough Junior Alliance League six-a-side tournament this weekend.Mackail-Smith scored 26 goals last season to help fire Posh into the Championship and will be Northants FA's guest of honour at the event on Sunday to present the Junior Alliance with their Chartered Standard Award.

The Alliance is one of only five leagues across the country to receive the honour.

League chief Hazel Burgess said: "Hopefully we will have two days of fantastic football and we are really looking forward to Sunday when Craig will be here to present us with the award from Northants FA.

"It is a huge honour and it reflects very well on all the people who work so hard to make the league what it is."

More than 50 teams have entered the tournament which will be held at Chestnut Avenue with the Under 9, 10s and 11s playing on Saturday and the Under 12s, 13s and 14s competing on Sunday.

The tournament begins at 10am on both days.
