Posh make bid for young Ryan Bennett

Peterborough United have stepped up their interest in Grimsby Town star Ryan Bennett.Director of football Barry Fry confirmed the club have made a bid for the highly-rated 19 year-old defender.
Posh were originally put off by a 1 million-plus asking price for the League Two player - a valuation branded 'ridiculous' by manager Darren Ferguson last month - but circumstances have since changed.
Fry refused to reveal the value of the bid, but said: "When we initially asked about Ryan the Grimsby chairman said they wouldn't even sell for a million, but certain things have changed as they always do in football."

"We put another bid in for him yesterday and are awaiting a response.
"He is a young, hungry and determined player who perfectly fits the bill of what the manager looks for in a Posh player.
"Darren and Kevin Russell have both watched the lad and been very impressed with him."
Posh are currently bidding for three transfer targets and have already landed Stockport wideman Tommy Rowe this summer, as well as turning Lee Frecklington's loan spell into a permanent move.
Fry added: "It is a case of being patient because very few deals are being done before July, but I anticipate plenty of discussions happening next week when I'm in Portugal for the chairman's conference."
