Posh chasing another gem

POSH could have unearthed yet another non-league gem.

POSH could have unearthed yet another non-league gem.Boss Darren Ferguson hopes to tie up a deal to capture Welling United left-back Craig Braham-Barrett after a successful outing for Posh Reserves yesterday (15 October).

The 20 year-old – who started his career with Charlton and has also played for Eastleigh and East Thurrock – has won rave reviews in his debut season at the Blue Square South club.

And he shone when lining up for the Posh second string in their 2-1 Totesport Combination League defeat at the hands of Watford at London Road.

Braham-Barrett is also being tracked by Championship club Nottingham Forest, but Ferguson admitted there is a 'good chance' that he could join Posh's band of aces to graduate from non-league football.

The Posh manager said: "We have had Craig watched in the last four or five weeks and have received good reports back.

"We knew we had to move fast because Forest are interested and other clubs are as well.

"Welling were good enough to allow him to play in the reserves and he did very well, so there is a good chance we will do something with him.

"He is very quick, has good attributes and with Jamie Day being out for such a long time, left-back is an area we need to look at.

"We will hopefully be able to get Craig in and improve him just as we have done with other young players."
