Phantoms was an offer Carlon couldn't refuse

PHANTOMS new boy Tom Carlon is confident of punching his weight in the English Premier League next season.Carlon (22) has been signed from Telford Tigers by treble-winning Phantoms, who have swooped to bolster their attacking roster following the departures of top scorers Nathan Rempel and Craig Peacock.
Last season the former GB junior star scored 23 goals while notching up almost 50 points for the struggling Shropshire side, who it is clear had no chance of resisting when the champions came calling.
Carlon said: "When I knew Phantoms wanted me my mind was made up straight away. This was too good to miss.
"It was tough last season with Tigers because we were often short benched in games so it will be good to go somewhere where I can have the occasional rest!
"With all due respect to my team-mates last season, this is a step up for me and I am looking forward to the challenge.
"Phantoms are the best team in the English Premier League and I am very excited to be a part of that."
And while Carlon, who is 6ft 4ins and weighs 14st 7lbs, is not expecting to replace lost guns Nathan Rempel and Craig Peacock, he does hope to leave his mark at the Peterborough Arena.
"Peacock and Rempel are both excellent players and if I could do half what they did last season I would be happy," said Carlon.
"But I think I bring something different with my size as I can hold my own to create chances using my strength as well as score a few goals too."
And Carlon will see at least one familiar face in the locker room having made the same move east as former clubmate Joe Miller.
Miller has made a big impact since he made the same switch a season and a half ago and Carlon hopes he too can make a good impression on the Bretton faithful.
Carlon added: "I get on great with Joe and it would be great to come here and do as well as him but we will have to wait and see.
"Phantoms are an exceedingly hard working team and I know I will have to work hard to fit into that but I am sure I can adjust.
"I am really looking forward to next season and working with Doug Irwin and hopefully I can help them have another great season."
