The city side breezed to a 6-0 success over Alconbury in their first outing for a month. They now need to win their final two games to be certain of the silverware.

Lucy Johnson broke the deadlock with a long-range rocket before Jessica Driscoll and Abbie Steels both bagged first-half braces. Steels went on to complete her treble in the second period.

PETERBOROUGH Diamonds Ladies' latest goal-feast was held up by some unexpected resistance.

Richard Evans' side conceded twice in the first 15 minutes of their Fenland Ladies League fixture at Outwell, but that early burst only delayed the inevitable as the city aces romped to a 9-2 win.

Goal-machine Zoe Watkins added another four to her tally with Harriet Ford helping herself to a couple of goals. Amelia Webster, Beth Login and Joyce Worth completed the scoring.

Boss Evans admitted: "The team's quality shone through. Once we got going Outwell were unable to cope with our strikeforce."

WHITTLESEY Under 12s returned to winning ways as they continued their pursuit of second spot in the Fenland League.

Georgia Alegre opened the scoring with her first touch of the game after coming on as substitute in a 2-0 win against Chatteris. Annie Posnett doubled the lead when getting on the end of a Sophie Powell free-kick.
