NIELS Kristian Iversen is intent on giving one of the sport's biggest stars a dose of his own medicine tonight.The Panthers skipper was made to suffer as rival number one Fredrik Lindgren led Elite League leaders Wolverhampton to a 49-41 triumph at Alwalton on Thursday.
Iversen managed only eight points in the Showground setback while rising star Lindgren romped to a full 15-point maximum.
The Swedish ace underlined his excellent form by storming to second place behind the imperious Jason Crump in the British Grand Prix on Saturday, but Iversen hopes it is he who will have the last laugh tonight when he makes his first return to Monmore Green since spending last season on loan there.
Wolverhampton finished bottom of the Elite League in 2008 but that didn't stop the Dane becoming a popular figure with the home faithful. Now he returns desperate to boost Panthers' poor away form and end a run of three straight defeats that have seen the city side drop out of the play-off places.
Iversen said: "Freddie has been almost unbeatable at Wolverhampton this season, but he is only human. He only has two wheels and an engine just like the rest of us.
"I am really hoping I can do to him what he did to us on Thursday. No rider likes losing races at home and it would be great to make up for it tonight.
"I enjoyed my year at Wolverhampton and really like the track there. Obviously it is a lot harder to go to a track once or twice a year and score points, but we do have riders who know the place well.
"Myself and Ales Dryml were both riding for Wolverhampton last season and I have seen Kenneth Bjerre have some really good meetings there.
"We all know we have to step it up as a team and start picking up more points away."
Wolverhampton have claimed the maximum available three points from all 10 of their previous home meetings.
They are able to track their top reserve Ty Proctor tonight. The 22 year-old – a Panthers' squad rider last season – missed the Thursday triumph at the Showground due to racing for his Premier League club, Redcar.
Panthers call on their current number eight with Andrew Tully stepping in at reserve due to the unavailability of Kenneth Hansen.
The Dane is racing in his homeland – a fixture agreed before he joined the city club in April.
