Wayne Stainsby was a winner for the Peterborough Triathlon Club (PACTRAC) at the weekend.

He was the club’s sole entrant in the Bedford Sprint Triathlon and he stormed to an impressive victory.

He completed the course of a 750m swim, 12.5-mile bike ride and three-mile run at Box End Water Park, Bedford, in 66:02 to win by a margin of 40 seconds.

Stainsby had a good swim, coming out of the water in sixth position, although some 2:05 minutes behind the early leader.

He then moved up to third with a solid bike ride before moving into the lead with 1.5 miles still to run.

Two PACTRAC-ers, Dave Patmore-Hill and Luke Starsmore, competed in the Weymouth 70.3 Half-Ironman at the weekend.

Patmore-Hill completed the course of a 1900m swim, 56-mile bike ride and 13.1-mile run in 4:38:56 and that was good enough to earn him second place in his age group. It was his first ever podium finish.

PACTRAC results: 28. Dave Patmore-Hill 4:38:56 (Age Group 2nd); 177. Luke Starsmore 5:20:01 (Age Group 24th).

Amy Hayes, meanwhile, chose to compete in the 70.3 Half-Ironman in Aarhus, Denmark, and was 609th overall in 6:30:48 and 18th in her age group.

JUNIORS WIN TITLES

There was more success for the PACTRAC junior section at the weekend.

Katie Tasker won the last race in the Eastern Region Junior Duathlon Series at Clacton - by a 40-second margin - to become Eastern Region overall champion in the Tristar 2 Girls category.

At the Lincoln Junior Triathlon on Saturday Jonathan Oakey won the Youth race by eight seconds after a closely fought contest.

And that gave Oakey the East Midlands Youth League title.

Hannah Bassett was fifth youth lady and finished fourth in the East Midlands League.

Other PACTRAC results at Lincoln: Louis Dawson 40th out of 66 In TS2; Toby Cooke 52nd out of 66 in TS2; Chloe Moore 37th out of 46 in TS1 in her first event.
