Arthur Robertson: Athletics (five miles, steeplechase, three mile team race), London, 1908This King's School educated man and Peterborough Athletic Club member was recently inducted into Scotland's Sporting Hall of Fame.
He is one of only six Scots to ever win an Olympic Gold and the only one apart from Chariots of Fire hero Eric Liddell to set a world record in an Olympic track and field event.
Robertson smashed the old 5,000m world best mark by over 12 seconds in 1908, just weeks after winning a gold medal in the three mile team race and a silver in the steeplechase events at the White City Olympics.
Robertson went on to become a director of Peterborough Town Football Club and was a founder of the sports shop on Cowgate which still bears his name.
Meet more Olympians: Chief Sports Writer Alan Swann has traced sportsmen and sportswomen who attended the Olympics while living in the Peterborough area.
