Sport news from the Peterborough Telegraph - peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport

Senior Peterborough City rowers were in excellent form at the Bedford Head of the River last weekend.

In the ladies age 55/60 category Joan Heath and Jo Canton beat local rivals from St Neots and Star Club Bedford to claim a gold medal.

And in the VC/D4 category Graham Barks, Bruce Margetts, Dave Truss and Colin Roberts were also victorious for City.

The VC event is for 46-49 year-olds while D4 involves rowers aged 55-60.

The male crew also finished second in the D/E4 race behind a team from the Star Club.

There was also a fine effort from Joan Heath and Anita Carter, who race as a womens’ veteran doubles, but had to compete in the open Womens’ doubles and still finished second despite feeling under the weather.
