Lauren’s a Wray of sunshine for Deepings club
THREE Deepings Swimming Club teenagers qualified for six finals between them at the Midland District Youths Long Course Championships.
Lauren Wray (15) reached four finals, while Tom Lane (17) and Laura Swain competed in a final apiece in the keenly contested championships at Coventry.
They din’t claim any medals, but Wray set county records in the 15 year-olds 100m butterfly, 400m individual medley and the 200m backstroke, while Lane and Swain did likewise in the 50m butterfly and 50m breaststroke respectively.
Deepings also finished fourth overall in a recent Tulip Open meet in Spalding. They collected 43 trophies between them and set 84 personal best times.
Marcus Cook (14) returned from injury and illness to win four age group titles, while Samara McKnight and Andrew Noble also claimed first place finishes.
Other finalists: Grace Lamsdale, Zoe Fisher, Shelby Cuff, Jordan Bull, William Swain, Elisha Penman, Bethany Neal, Elliott Bull, Niamh Warrington, Bailie Harrison, Claire Hayes-Bowizer, Matthew Smith, James Noble, Emma Watts, Chris Barrett and Helen Holroy.
