OUNDLE youngster Jessica Anderson will be looking to add to her impressive haul of trophies when she competes in the English Alpine Championships later this month.

The 13 year-old (above) will be among hundreds of future skiing stars who will descend upon the snow in Bormio, Italy, for the English Alpine Championships 2012 from February 10 to 17.

Jessica got into skiing at just two and a half years old when she asked her dad if she could have a go while on holiday in Austria. She began competing when she was six.

She is a member of the British Ski Academy and last winter competed in Alpine races in Italy, France, Switzerland and Austria.

She was the second overall girl at the British Championships in 2011 with podium finishes in all three disciplines of slalom, GS and Super G, and she won two first positions in team events.

In 2010 she won the British Championship in Meribel, France, clinching the title from over 40 other competitors in the “Mini” category where she finished first and second in her two races.

She also got a podium place in the Czech Republic in 2010 for the GB Children’s Team when she finished fifth in slalom. She was 11th in Slovenia in grand slalom.

Outside of skiing Jessica is a brown belt in Karate and is a keen runner.

Jessica said: “This is a brilliant opportunity and I am really looking forward to joining the buzz in Bormio, to give it my all. I would love to take part in the Winter Olympics and get onto the GB Senior Team.”

Jessica started skiing at the age of 2 and began competing at the age of 6. She completed the full French Ski System up to Gold Star level.
