Four city players in action for Scotland

FOUR city players were in action last weekend for Scotland Veterans at an international tournament held in Rotherham.

Former Peterborough Pirates ice hockey stars John Walker, Alan Walker, John Tague and Ross Mackintosh were all involved in the event which saw Scotland reach the final before losing out 11-4 to France.

Player/coach John Walker said: “This was a great result for the Scottish team as we only had a small squad and one netminder.

“The French team once again had three ex-NHL players in their team.”

Results: Scotland 3, Great Britain 3; Scotland 10, England 1; Scotland 11, France B 4; Scotland 1, France A 11. Semi final Scotland 10, Great Britain 3; Final Scotland 4, France A 11.

The team will be in action later this year when they travel to Italy for the Vets World Cup in May.
