Top jet-skiier James Bushell from Tydd St Giles has won a European title.
The 28 year-old won the International Jet Sports Boating Association (IJSBA) European Championships in both the Pro-GP and Pro-Stock classes on his high-tech Sea-Doo RXP-X 260 built by BRP.
The championships, which saw 20 competitors battle it out in each of the two classes, took place on the second longest river in the world, the Danube in Austria.
Bushell, who won the IJSBA World Championships in 2011 and the UAW Pro-GP Championships earlier this season, found himself on the podium once again when he fought it out for the title with arch rival Jean Baptiste Botti from France. They both won one race each before Bushell took the decider.
Bushell said: “I’m delighted to have won the European title. After qualifying, Jean and I had both won a heat each so I knew I had to really push myself in the final race. I just love racing in a competitive class against the world’s best. I am now focusing on the World Championships in October and I hope I can do my supporters proud and bring home the trophy once again.”
Bushell, who is backed by local retailer 158 Performance, BRP Sea-Doo and Can-Am dealer in the UK, is now setting his sights on defending his Pro Open and Pro-GP titles at the largest and most prestigious event in the race calendar, the IJSBA World Championships in October, Arizona.
