HOLBEACH boss Shaun Keeble can vouch for the quality of new defensive signing Karl Horsewood.

HOLBEACH boss Shaun Keeble can vouch for the quality of new defensive signing Karl Horsewood. The Tigers chief has snapped up the former Lincoln United and Stamford man who spent last year out of the game.

Keeble said: "Scott is a fit and strong centre-back who has played a lot of football at a higher level.

"I know how good he is after playing against him the past and we're really pleased to have him on board."

Horsewood's arrival fills the void left by the departure of Danny Hussey to become assistant manager at Deeping.

Keeble has also snapped up brothers Jason and Carl Sedlan from Sleaford – Jason has played for Yaxley, Wisbech and Spalding in the past.

Romanian wideman Antoniu Pascu is also training with the club ahead of a possible return while Keeble is still chasing another central defender.

Holbeach have appointed Omar Joof as their new club captain after he snubbed a move to Deeping.

The defensive midfielder takes over from Dean Elston who is to concentrate on his role as player/assistant manager.

Keeble added: "There aren't a lot of loyal players about these days, but Omar certainly is one."

Deeping entertain Huntingdon Town in a pre-season friendly at Outgang Road tonight.

CHRIS Plummer has made defender Chris Dear his first signing as Peterborough Northern Star manager.

Dear is well known to Star assistant boss Paul Hill through time they spent together at Wisbech Town.

Plummer said: "Chris is one of Paul's contacts in the game and we have signed him.

"We have fingers in a few other pies, but we have retained the majority of last season's squad and have all bases pretty well covered."

Former Posh defender Plummer, who succeeded double-winning Tommy Cooper at the end of last season, is in the market for a big frontman.

Prolific pair Karl Gibbs and Mark Paul have both departed during the summer.

Plummer added: "I need a forward who can get hold of the ball and get lads playing off him.

"I feel it is important for us to to have some physical presence up there."
