There’s a new sport availeble at the Court Pool and Snooker Club in Bretton.

The club have invested in two Chinese 8-ball pool tables after club representatives sampled the game on a trip to the Far East earlier this year.

Chinese 8-ball pool is a tw-player game which combines normall 8-ball pool with a version of carom billiards.

Court professional John Roe said: “I was lucky enough to be invited a to play in the world Chinese 8-ball masters in Xi An. I’d never played the game before, but I soon realised the size of it.

“Some of the top snooker players in the world took part including Neil Robertson and Judd Trump so it was an honour to be invited.

“I reached the third qualifying round, beating snooker professional Craig Steadman along the way, which I was delighted with.

“The game is addictive and there is now massive interest in England. We have been able to ship two tables over and we are the first club in England to have them.

“We will run leagues, competitions and qualifiers for future world events so hopefully all those interested in cue sports will come and have a go.”

Further information is available from the club on 01733 262905.
