A double for Jon Harrison plus one for John Stead saw Netherton climb another place in the table but at this stage of the season it's all about taking it one game at a time according to boss Roland Dean.
"It was pretty appalling weather and it made it hard for both sides to play any decent football but we stuck at it and produced a decent game of football in the end," he said.
"But they made it very tough for us and even when we went 3-1 up they never gave up and nicked a goal back to make the last few minutes quite tight.
"We managed to hold out though and deserved the win in the end.
"It is going to be a big ask for us to make a big impact on the league but we have a good few games in hand and we will just take it one game at a time, go for wins and see where we end up at the end of the season."
In Division Two, league leaders Parkway certainly look a better bet to get their hands on the league trophy this year after Ashley Favell fired in a double to help his side to a 4-1 win away to Angel Inn.
The other games saw Netheton Reserves finish 2-2 with Sawtry while a Charlie Connolly double did the damage as West Town beat Goldhay Rangers 2-0.
In Division Three, Perkins went down 3-2 at home to NTS while Fenland Police fought out a cracking 6-6 draw with The Office.
The route one rozzers had been down 5-2 at one stage after kicking off with just 10 men but once they were back to full strength after the break, a cracking fightback - including a hat-trick for Paul Street - ensured the battling bobbies secured their first draw of the season.
