My Posh Day: QPR fan is certain to get some stick

CURRENT FORM: Being a QPR fan and working at ET Towers goes together as well as a top sportsman and marital fidelity.Endless jibes about how many managers we've had since the Briatore regime rolled into town towards the end of 2007 and how many players the R's have on loan (we all know Swanny loves a good stat) can get a little tiresome.

However, it's hard not to let them off when I've committed the cardinal sin among football fans, so now is confession time.

Although I have been watching the Hoops since their lofty (get it?) days in the Premiership, I am a lifelong Peterborian.

In fact, up until just hours before the match, I'd lived in the same house for more than 20 years.

So yes, I ditched my home city club as a fan, but do regularly attend Posh games with my brother in the London Road end.

That said, on current form, I was not feeling confident about this one, especially after no wins in our last six games.

PRE MATCH: I'm not one for rituals, but the hours before a football match for me usually involve a good pint and a catch-up with some mates.

However, the pre-game entertainment for me was moving house - ironically to a home closer to London Road. I eventually stopped sifting through my possessions and made a beeline for Club Metro for a cheeky pint with my brother and his fellow Posh-supporting mates, before heading down to the Moy' s End.

HALF TIME: The R's first-half performance left me wondering why I'd bothered.

We lacked a killer threat, but what do you expect from playing a defensive midfielder on the right wing? And the not so magical Magyar Tamas Priskin up front?

Posh did enough to warrant a lead, thanks to a smart Mclean finish, having picked up on one of QPR's endless errors across the pitch. The thing that annoyed me most though was chants of "we're going home in a minute" from the away fans. How's that supposed to make a team already struggling for confidence play better?

However, a half-time rant over the phone to my season ticket-holding brother made me feel much better - despite his smugness from the home end.

FULL TIME: I don't normally have a moan at referees, but this one was a shocker. I'd have much rather had Swanny officiating the game!

How he thought Leigertwood should be given a straight red card for his tackle on Rowe is beyond me - it was not late, nor dangerous.

However, I was glad when Ramage was sent for an early bath as he was having a pretty poor match.

Then there's the blatant penalty for Bennett's foul on Connolly at the end of the game, which was never given.

But a point for the R's would have been rather harsh on the Posh.

The short walk home felt like the longest of my life and until this moment, I hadn't even contemplated the week to come at ET Towers.

Oh dear.
