More World of Sport: on David Price and Fraudley Harrison, San Marino and Andorra, and racism in football

Hero Of The Week: David Price - It’s about time Fraudley Harrison’s boxing career was brought to an end.

I admire Harrison’s skill to make a fortune without throwing a punch in anger, but his deluded witterings about his ability were tiresome five years ago.

Seeing Price pummel this dope to defeat in just 82 seconds was the sporting highlight of the week.

Minnows should avoid the big fish

Is there a bigger waste of time in sport than international football matches against San Marino and Andorra?

The answer is no, once you discount the entire speedway season.

I’m sure the likes of Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck (above) love boosting their own personal scoring records, but goals against San Marino are of even less value than Joey Barton’s promise to mend his ways.

There should be a second division competition for hopeless football nations like Liechtenstein, San Marino, Wales and Scotland.

Their ‘competitive’ matches follow such a predictable route (10-man defence, five-goal defeat if they play well) they are irrelevant and even more boring than a baking competition.

And another thing...

A Rose among thorns

How many more acts of blatant racism will the world’s black footballers have to put up with on their visits to mainland Europe?

Danny Rose shouldn’t have been sent off following England Under 21s’ win over Serbia this week. He should be commended for ‘only’ reacting to disgusting monkey chants by kicking a water bottle

Leave Levein where he is

It bothers me that Scotland manager Craig Levein’s job is under threat. Among the great joys of watching sport is seeing Scotland lose at football, Wales lose at rugby, the United States lose at golf and the arrogant Aussies lose at anything. So please keep Levein in his post to ensure Scottish football stays in the doldrums for a bit longer.
