Gymnastics: Olympic medallist Louis Smith just missed out on two major honours at the weekend.The Eye ace, who returned from Beijing with a bronze medal in the summer, finished fourth on his specialist piece of apparatus - the pommel horse - with a score of 15.600 at the World Cup Final in Madrid.
Smith then dashed across Europe to perform at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony in Liverpool where Olympic cycling champion Chris Hoy collected the big prize.
Hoy, who won three gold medals in Beijing, beat Lewis Hamilton (2nd) and Rebecca Adlington (3rd) to the honour.
Hoy (32) became the first cyclist to win the prestigious award since Tommy Simpson in 1965.
